Langston Hughes

Sweet lyrical dreamer
inspire dreams in me
as I collect words
and stack them like
mosaic tiles
against the walls of my mind.
Dreamer of words like
mix matched bits of
randomness
that speaks clearly to
the person that I am.
Dreaming of picturesque words
the dream doesn’t fester
like decaying fruit.
Dreaming of agonizing words
my dream isn’t deferred
like last-minute worries.
No, sweet lyrical dreamer
inspired by a poet’s dream
to be alive
in the imaginative words
that hug me close.
Thanks, sweet lyrical dreamer.
Inspired to a poet’s dream
I dream unbridled
as a lover
of words and
I can speak rivers of
words
that accumulate
like vibrant shards
of shattered tiles
only to be used again.
