Planet to Moon

“one revolution around the sun
and you’ll follow me,
my moon”
said the planet

“one revolution by me
and you’ll follow the sun,
my planet”
said the moon

dancing about the heavens
an elliptical tango
a celestial waltz

and balance keeps waning
and balance keeps waxing
as the moon dances in shadow
and brilliance
and the planet keeps spinning her along
admiring her
moonlight

for planet can not shine for her
as she glows for him
he only hold her near
remaining on a path
around the sun

neither realizing
that the rest of the universe
growing    wider          by                          the                                         moment
pursues the sun
too

Pursue
