Exposed

Hidden in shadows
the thoughts that have sprouted
invisible tentacles
that hold me too close
to the edge
of this
beautiful chasm
Those who see me
don’t see it
they see me
dancing wildly
in a broken, jagged line
gyrating and
gesticulating
in the rhythmic
hopes of some attachment
that keeps me from falling
in
Not wanting to be caught
needing to be saved
by strong fingers
intertwined in
mine
No, the touch
would expose a weakness
my need to be held
back
down
close
the touch
would bare my naked thoughts and insecurities
the part of me that I hide
needing to be
exposed
