Dramatic Pause

Sometimes,
in the middle of this…
the beginning of that…
and the end of those…
I know I’m losing
my…
mind.
Chaotically beautiful
and peacefully benign,
my mind is in recess
as my conscience fiddles with random settings.
Still,
there is a stormy, haunting void
noiseless
thoughtless
tranquil silence
when nothing (and I do mean NOTHING)
comes to mind.
Isn’t dementia
or cerebral absentia,
or even an analytical mystification.
It’s merely a
long               dramatic               pause…
a moment of wickedness defeated
as I contain
my frustration
and tactfully modify
my choice of words.
