Chocolate

The words melt
on my tongue
like chocolate.
Sweetly,
I say the things
that I do not mean.
Silky smooth
the words are
as they coat my tongue
in the lies
that come so easily now.
A lavishness developed
by the desire
to harmlessly please
you.
Love’s diet isn’t
just
and the sweet decadence
only lasts briefly
as the
chalky aftertaste
of truths untold
melts
on my tongue
like bittersweet
chocolate.
